This is a 2-day/1-night model course to visit Lake Akan without renting a car, departing from and arriving at Kushiro Airport. If you only want to visit the hot spring resort area, you can enjoy it on foot, but this time, we will guide you to a secluded area slightly away from the hot spring resort area by using a rented bicycle. We will show you the new charm of Lake Akan with its hot springs, Ainu culture, nature, and healing. We hope you will find it useful for your trip.

Kushiro Airport-たんちょう釧路空港
The airport serves as a hub connecting Tokyo, the Kansai region, and Sapporo with the eastern Hokkaido region. A regular bus service operates between Kushiro Airport and Lake Akanko Onsen.

Restaurant Tancho-レストランたんちょう
You will have lunch before the bus transfer to Lake Akan. Restaurant Tancho in Kushiro Airport offers a wide variety of menu items using Hokkaido ingredients as well as Kushiro's famous gourmet foods.

New Akan Hotel-ニュー阿寒ホテル
You will stay at the New Akan Hotel, built on the shore of Lake Akan. Before sightseeing, you will be asked to leave your luggage at the hotel.

Akandake Shrine-阿寒岳神社
We will visit the Akan-dake Shrine, which is blessed with prayers for peaceful and safe travel for tourists.

Akan Kanko Kisen-阿寒観光汽船
Akan Kanko Kisen, which operates a popular sightseeing boat, rents out sports-type electrically power assisted bicycles that even beginners can ride with ease. ID is required to rent the bicycles.

Takiguchi-滝口
This is a well-known scenic spot on Lake Akan where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the forest and lake as if it were a garden. It is a bit difficult to get there on foot, but with an electric bicycle, you can easily get there and enjoy the spectacular view.

Akankohan Eco-Museum Center-阿寒湖畔エコミュージアムセンター
The natural beauty of the Lake Akan area is fully introduced through tree specimens, a giant tapestry, a fish tank exhibit, and a mini-theater. There are also marimo (Japanese fireflies).

Lake Akan Observatory-阿寒湖畔展望台
During the summer, the "Kokusetsu Akankohan Ski Resort" is transformed into an observatory from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the magnificent Akan Caldera. From there, you can walk up the slope to the observatory.

Lake Akan Ainu Kotan-阿寒湖アイヌコタン
The Ainu, who carry on the traditional culture, actually live in this village, one of the largest villages in Hokkaido, and each has its own stores to welcome visitors, and there are many things to see and do, including stores and a theater.

Lake Akan Marimukan-阿寒湖まりむ館
The Tourist Information Center is located in the center of the Lake Akan Onsen Hot Spring Resort. It is recommended to stop by at the beginning of your trip as it handles a wealth of information on tours, events, and dining.

After check-in, you will have a buffet dinner in the dining room overlooking Lake Akan. The menu includes snow crab, sushi, Genghis Khan, and other Hokkaido-style dishes, as well as colorful Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, and a freshly prepared dish from the demonstration corner.

KAMUY LUMINA-カムイルミナ
Participate in an interactive art performance using the latest digital art, which is held in the Lake Akan Forest from around late June to early November. Walk through the pitch-dark forest and immerse yourself in the mysterious Ainu world of Lake Akan while watching beautiful images projected on the trees.

Enjoy Lake Akan Onsen at the large bathhouse with a view 30 meters above ground level, where you can soak in the hot water while admiring the magnificent view of Lake Akan, or at Tenku Garden Spa, where you can experience a hot spring like becoming one with the lake and the sky.

After breakfast, you will head for Yaitai Island, an uninhabited island in Lake Akan. In fact, there are many power spots around Lake Akan, and the Shrine of the White Dragon God King dedicated on Yaitai Island is known as one of the most powerful power spots.

Fishing Land Akan-フィッシングランド阿寒
There are no regular boats to Yaitai Island, so you can use Fishing Land Akan's power spot pick-up service to go ashore by boat. Reservations are required, so be sure to inquire in advance.

Yatai Island-ヤイタイ島
The White Dragon God King is enshrined quietly on an uninhabited island with a circumference of less than 300 meters in the lake. Surrounded by mountains and a lake, the island's clean air stimulates all five senses and leaves one feeling refreshed.
